Get Retirement Education Close to Home

With increased prices in gasoline and decreased time in your schedule, take advantage of retirement education  offerings that are available close to you.

Take a minute and think about how long you may be in retirement and how much income you may need to maintain the standard of living you expect.  Are you prepared?  Take charge of your future and do your homework today so there are no unexpected surprises when your retirement date is here.

PEERS Pre-Retirement Planning Seminars are geared to members who are approaching retirement. We recommend that you start attending seminars about 5 years before your projected retirement date.  However, we invite all PEERS members, as well as their guests, to attend.

At the seminar, you will receive a personalized estimate of monthly benefits given your projected retirement date. The estimate is reviewed in detail to provide you with a good understanding of your options. Other topics addressed include: the Partial Lump Sum Option; buying credit; financial protection for your family in the event of death; cost-of-living adjustments, and other post-retirement considerations.

Seminars are available throughout the state.  Registration is required and is easy to complete. To view the 2008-2009 seminar or to register online, click here. You can also register by calling (800) 392-6848.

Mid Career Seminars are scheduled from January through April 2009 at different locations throughout the state. These seminars provide general information on PEERS and an introduction to basic financial planning.

If you can’t make a seminar or want more personal attention, consider a PEERS Video Counseling Session. Video Counseling allows live communication with a retirement counselor at PEERS in Jefferson City via video cameras and computers while you stay closer to home.

It’s easy!  All you need to do is make an appointment and show up.  We’ll prepare personal information for you based on your needs, and we’ll take care of all the computer requirements.
